Split PDF

Extract page ranges or split every page into its own PDF, downloaded individually or as a ZIP.

PDFs are split on your device — never uploaded

Commas between pages or ranges · “8-” means 8 to the end

How it works

  1. Your PDF is opened in the browser and its page count is read.
  2. Your page selection is checked against that count — out-of-range pages are reported before anything is created.
  3. For each output file, pdf-lib creates a new PDF and copies the selected pages into it unchanged.
  4. One output downloads directly; several are offered individually or bundled into a ZIP.

Example

From a 12-page contract, “Extract pages” with 1, 11-12 creates one 3-page PDF with the cover and signature pages. “One PDF per range” with 1-4, 5-8, 9-12 gives three 4-page files — the same as “Every N pages” with N = 4.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. The PDF is read and split in your browser using the open-source pdf-lib library. The new files are created on your device.

How do I write page ranges?

Separate pages and ranges with commas, for example “1-3, 5, 8-10”. Page numbers start at 1. You can also use “7-” to mean page 7 to the end.

Why can’t I split my PDF?

Password-protected or encrypted PDFs can’t be split until the protection is removed by someone authorised to do so. Damaged files may also fail to open.

Is quality reduced?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are — text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.
