Local things to check
- Billing currency: many AI subscriptions bill in US dollars. Budget for exchange-rate changes and bank fees, and cancel trials you don’t use.
- Data costs: cloud editing, uploads and AI video use a lot of data. Edit offline where you can, and upload on uncapped connections.
- Load-shedding: save often and keep projects backed up in the cloud or on a second drive.
- Accents and languages: test transcription and AI voices with your own voice, with local names and places, and with any code-switching. Fix errors before publishing.
Accuracy and trust
AI tools can be confidently wrong, especially about South African facts, laws, prices and current events. Check claims against an official or primary source before you publish, and say when content is AI-assisted if a platform’s rules require it.
Privacy and POPIA
Don’t paste other people’s personal information, such as audience emails or guests’ details, into AI tools without thinking about where it goes. POPIA applies to how you handle it. Check each tool’s data and training settings.
