Privacy policy

Short version: our free tools run on your device, and we don’t sell your data.

Who we are

ToolTarvern is owned and run by DIGITALHOMETARVERN (Pty) Ltd, trading as Digital Tarvern (registration number 2026/758395/07), a South African company. Free tools

Our calculators, generators, text, image and PDF tools process your input in your browser. The text, numbers, images and files you enter are not sent to ToolTarvern’s servers.

Information we collect

  • Newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address is stored by our email provider and used only to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and reliability.
  • Analytics: we count page views and site searches ourselves, without cookies — see how our analytics work. No third-party analytics provider is used.
  • Emails you send us: kept only as long as needed to respond.

When you use a /go/…/ link (for example an affiliate link), our server records the time, which link it was, which ToolTarvern page you clicked it on, whether it went to an affiliate tracking link, and whether the request looked like it came from a bot. We don’t record your IP address, cookies, an account ID or your full browser details for this. We use these counts to see which links readers use and to find broken ones. The affiliate network or merchant you’re sent to may set its own cookies; its privacy policy applies.

How our analytics work

To see which pages are useful, each page sends our own server a small, cookieless message with: the page address (without anything after a “?”), the website you came from (its domain only, such as google.com), and a utm_source campaign tag if the link had one. On the site search and tool directory we also count the search words you type, after a short pause. Search words that look like an email address, phone or ID number, a link or a token are thrown away and never stored.

To estimate how many different people visit on a day, the server combines your IP address and browser version with a random value that changes every day and keeps only a scrambled, shortened result. The IP address and browser details themselves are never stored, and the daily random value is deleted the next day, so visits can’t be linked across days or traced back to you. Raw counts are deleted after about 13 months.

We never record anything you type or upload into a free tool, and we don’t use these numbers for advertising or share them. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is sent at all.

Cookies

ToolTarvern itself does not need cookies to work. (Our private admin area uses one sign-in cookie for staff only.) Our advertising partner uses cookies as described below.

Advertising

Some pages show ads from Google AdSense, labelled “Advertisement”. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and, where you allow it, personalise them based on your visits to this and other websites. ToolTarvern does not give Google your name, email address or anything you type into our tools.

Where the law requires it (for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), Google shows a consent message first. You can change your choice at any time through that message, turn off personalised ads at Google’s Ad Settings, or visit aboutads.info. You can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Contact support@digitaltarvern.co.za.
