WhatsApp Link Generator
Create a wa.me click-to-chat link with a pre-filled message for your website or social bio.
Runs in your browser — nothing you enter is sent to our servers
How it works
The tool removes spaces, brackets and dashes from your number, strips a leading 0 (or a repeated country code) and joins it to the country code: https://wa.me/27821234567. If you add a message, it is percent-encoded and appended as ?text=… so spaces and emoji survive.
Nothing is sent to WhatsApp or ToolTarvern until you click “Test link”.
Example
Number 082 123 4567 with the message “Hi, I’d like a quote” becomes:
https://wa.me/27821234567?text=Hi%2C%20I%E2%80%99d%20like%20a%20quote
Put it behind a “Chat on WhatsApp” button on your contact page, in your Instagram bio, or turn it into a QR code for your shop counter. Tracking campaigns? Try the UTM link builder.
Frequently asked questions
What is a wa.me link?
WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat link format. Opening https://wa.me/ followed by a phone number in international format starts a chat with that number, without the visitor needing to save it as a contact.
How do I format a South African number?
Use the country code 27 and drop the leading 0: 082 123 4567 becomes 27821234567. Don’t include +, spaces, brackets or dashes in the link — this tool does that for you.
Can I add a pre-filled message?
Yes. The message is URL-encoded and added as ?text=…. The person can still edit it before sending.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. wa.me links work for personal and WhatsApp Business numbers, as long as the number is registered on WhatsApp.
