Social Media Image Size Helper
Sizes and safe areas for every major platform. Check your image, then crop it to the exact size around your subject.
Images are cropped on your device — never uploaded
Tap or click the image to choose what stays in the centre of the crop. The dashed box is the safe area.
How it works
Choose where the image will be used to see the recommended size, shape and any safe area. Add your image to see whether it fits as it is, how much a crop would remove, and whether it has enough pixels. The download is cropped around your focus point and scaled to the exact size, without stretching.
Example
A 4000×3000 landscape photo for an Instagram story (1080×1920): the helper shows that about 58% of the width will be cropped away. Move the focus to the person in the photo, then download a 1080×1920 image with them in the centre and clear of the profile bar and reply box.

Frequently asked questions
Are these sizes official?
They come from each platform’s published guidance where it exists, and widely used sizes where it doesn’t, compiled October 2026. Platforms change layouts without notice, so check their help pages before an important campaign.
What is the safe area?
Parts of some images are covered by buttons, captions or profile photos, or cropped on certain devices. Keep text, logos and faces inside the dashed safe area so they stay visible everywhere.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Cropping happens in your browser and your image never leaves your device.
Why upload a larger image than the listed size?
Platforms compress uploads, and high-density phone screens show more pixels. Starting at the listed size or larger, in the right shape, gives the sharpest result.
