Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP files by quality or to a target file size. Nothing is uploaded.
Image Format Converter
Convert images between PNG, JPEG and WebP in bulk, with control over transparency.
Images are converted on your device — never uploaded
How it works
Each image is decoded by your browser, drawn at its original size onto a canvas and re-encoded in the new format. Dimensions never change.
- PNG is lossless — the quality slider doesn’t apply. Best for screenshots, logos and graphics with transparency.
- JPEG is lossy and has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with your background colour.
- WebP supports both lossy compression and transparency, usually with smaller files than JPEG or PNG.
Example
Converting a 1.8 MB PNG screenshot to WebP at 90% quality often produces a file a fraction of the size with no visible difference. Converting a transparent logo PNG to JPEG with a white background gives a JPEG that looks the same on white pages — but you lose the transparency.
Frequently asked questions
Which formats can I convert?
You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), BMP and — in browsers that support it — AVIF, and convert to PNG, JPEG or WebP. Output formats depend on what your browser can encode; all modern browsers can create PNG, JPEG and WebP.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPEG?
JPEG doesn’t support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose (white by default). PNG and WebP keep transparency.
Can I convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Only if your browser can open HEIC images, which most can’t yet. On iPhone, you can set the camera to “Most Compatible” to save JPEGs, or share the photo as JPEG.
