How it works
Words are drawn at random from the traditional Lorem Ipsum vocabulary. Sentences are 6–14 words long, start with a capital and occasionally contain a comma; paragraphs have 4–7 sentences. With the classic option on, the text begins with the familiar “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.” Limits: 50 paragraphs, 500 sentences or 5,000 words.
Example
“1 paragraph, plain text” gives something like: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed tempor incididunt ut labore magna aliqua. Ut enim minim veniam quis nostrud exercitation…

Frequently asked questions
What is Lorem Ipsum?
Scrambled Latin placeholder text, derived from a passage of Cicero’s “De finibus bonorum et malorum” (45 BC), used by designers since at least the 1500s to show how a layout looks with text before the real copy is ready.
Why use placeholder text instead of real text?
It lets people judge the design without being distracted by the words. But test with real copy before launch — real headlines and paragraphs are often longer or shorter than placeholders.
Can I get HTML?
Yes. Choose “HTML paragraphs” to wrap each paragraph in <p> tags, ready to paste into a template.
